Loropetalum chinensis ‘Rubrum’ is a bushy, evergreen shrub that features graceful, arching branches covered in dark red to burgundy foliage. Abundant, bright fuchsia flower clusters appear in spring and then throughout the year. This native of Asia and China performs best in full sun or part shade with occasional watering. When used as a specimen patio tree or hedge planted in mass, it can provide dramatic color contrast in a Bay Area landscape.
