As a third generation Californian and second generation San Franciscan, Don is also President of Pacific Nurseries.
He earned his degree in ornamental horticulture at the University of California, Davis. His hands-on experience includes 15 years of success as a landscape contractor.
Don gives back and remains connected to the landscape community through education, support and involvement in organizations including Pacific Horticulture and the San Francisco Botanical Garden. His “feel good” satisfaction comes from knowing the Bay Area is greener and more beautiful by helping his customers succeed.
After 15 years of running a successful commercial photography business, Julie came to Pacific Nurseries in 1997 when she and Don Baldocchi bought the company.
Currently she works remotely with the management team on strategic planning, business operations and marketing. In her free time, she enjoys being a board member of Point Blue Conservation Science, photography, volunteer ski patrolling, biking, cow-girling and cooking.
Will developed a close connection to nature early on while exploring his father’s landscaping job sites and being quizzed on the genus and species of plants while hiking Mt. Tam.
With a background as a touring musician and tour manager, Will has gained experience in team management, collaboration, and organization through his years performing and traveling internationally. Recently joining the Pacific Nurseries’ team, Will’s focus is on operations management as he proudly continues the tradition of supplying the Bay Area with high-quality landscape material.
Nothing makes him happier than to drive through San Francisco and see Pacific Nurseries’ plants adding to the beauty and charm of the city he grew up in.
Chase has fond memories of growing up with Pacific Nurseries as the family business. He remembers helping out on the yard as a kid, potting cuttings into 4″ pots, and playing in shade houses with his brother Will. Now years later, he is proud to be involved in the management of the business and is excited to help Pacific Nurseries continue to grow.
With a background in leadership his experience includes serving as General Manager for a popular LA restaurant and Director of Operations for an online apparel company. He is motivated to help people within a company operate as a cohesive team and he derives satisfaction in working to establish an environment where staff are happy, challenged, and improving. He believes that when a team operates with mutual respect and love for their jobs, they will in turn create a place that customers feel welcome and invited.
He assists in several areas of the business including operational oversight, process improvement, employee development, hiring, and strategic planning.
Customer Service | Sales
Sophia earned her degree in Sustainable Landscape Management and Design from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. As a member of our sales team, she brings hands-on experience from her work in commercial landscaping and irrigation design. She is interested in helping landscape professionals get all the plants that they need to make their project a success. And she looks forward to eventually getting the whole office to dress up in costume for Halloween.
Jason has worked in Bay Area nurseries for over thirty years. Before arriving at Pacific Nurseries, Jason started his career in greens keeping at the Half Moon Bay links.
He also has expertise in field growing cut flowers and has years of retail experience and problem solving at local nurseries including a position as assistant manager.
David Kurtenbach Rivera has been a lifelong gardener and enjoys observing plants and trees as they change from season to season. Taxonomy and forestry are two of his favorite topics, and he very much enjoys plant identification as part of his work on the Sales Team.
Some of his favorite plants are the workhorses of industrial landscaping: Rhaphiolepis, Griselinia, and Vinca major. On the weekends, David is out enjoying beautiful views from San Francisco’s Parks.
David just finished his first year of a degree in Environmental Horticulture at City College of San Francisco.
Denika has always had a love and fascination with plants, so gardening has been a passion of hers an adult. Most of her professional background has been in the construction trades, but in 2016 she was hired on at a Nursery in Nevada and became even more interested in learning about plants, their specific needs, and even their therapeutic/medicinal properties.
She’s excited to have the opportunity to learn even more at Pacific Nurseries and be a part of a company that helps supply beauty around the Bay Area.
Aside from plants and gardening, Denika finds gratification in photography, lapidary work, and pyrography. In her free time she also enjoy hiking, and a weekend out on the boat is always good for the soul.
Greg is a recent addition to the team and the Bay Area hailing from Colorado. He studied Horticulture with a concentration in Food Crops at Colorado State and is passionate about food access. He has Russian heritage and speaks fluently, enjoys playing around with his guitar, cooking, drawing, and using words in creative ways.
He is an expert hand whistler and learning more plants every day at Pacific Nurseries!
Mrs. Garcia recently joined the industry after being inspired by the horticulture department at City College of San Francisco. With a professional background in customer service and educational background in behavioral studies, she brings a unique combination of passion and skill to Pacific Nurseries.
Growing up in San Francisco, Mrs. Garcia has a particular interest in Cal native plants as well as plants that work well in water wise gardens. On her days off you can find her walking her dogs, maintaining her garden, or cooking up treats for her friends and family.
Inventory + Plant Production
Andre joined Pacific Nurseries in 2015 and he is responsible for the health of our large plant inventory. He concentrates his efforts on plant nutrition and biological control.
For over thirty years, he has worked in the nursery and greenhouse industries as a devoted supporter of independent small business and entrepreneurship.
Mario worked for Pacific Nurseries as a teenager, then started and ran his own landscape business for 23 years before moving on to owning and operating a retail nursery for the next ten years.
He has now returned to his roots at Pacific Nurseries, bringing a myriad of experiences and a rich understanding of the needs of landscape contractors. In his spare time he enjoys fishing and playing golf with his friends.
David has been with Pacific Nurseries since 2006 and is responsible for inventory tracking as well as sales. David earned a degree in Horticulture and also majored in vegetable production.
He enjoys growing and the production dimensions of the plant business. His history includes owning an orchid and honeybee business. He is currently interested in the many varieties of water-saving succulents.
Office | Administration
As financial controller, Jenny focuses on the management and accounting operations at PN. She enjoys the financial analysis, performing internal audits and embraces the challenges of problem solving.
With her seasoned accounting background, Jenny provides timely and relevant reports to the management team as well as to external users. She works closely with the management team to create monthly and annual reports which provide not only a sense of personal satisfaction, but support Pacific Nurseries’ growth in the industry.
In her free time, Jenny enjoys travel, hiking and patio gardening.
Seiling is passionate about the Human Resources profession. She loves helping others and having the opportunity to make people’s working lives better, even in the smallest way.
Seiling started her Human Resources career over 6 years ago and has experience managing the different aspects of HR, including compliance, performance management, payroll, employee benefits, onboarding & safety.
She likes creating lasting relationships and has a strong belief in Steve Jobs’ maxim “the journey is the reward”. It is what inspires her to do her work with enthusiasm and challenges her to learn constantly.
Aside from work, she loves spending time with her family, traveling and enjoys nature.
As an experienced business administrator with a keen interest in supporting Pacific Nurseries’ daily operations, organization, and efficiency, Cathy looks forward to providing the best possible support to the staff and customers while gaining insight into the industry.
With over 20 years in the field of education, she developed a love of helping others grow and flourish and applies that to her business operations through considerate interaction with others and thoughtful decision making.
Cathy is a third generation San Franciscan who loves spending time with her horse, her family, cooking for others, listening to music, flower arranging, and doing anything outdoors. “The Earth laughs in flowers”—Ralph Waldo Emerson.
As an accounting assistant, Maria enjoys assisting the financial controller with her many accounting tasks and collaborating to create new strategies to help run things efficiently. She also enjoys helping other colleagues in the accounting department as needed.
Maria joined Pacific Nurseries’s team due to her interest in the beautiful environment that is surrounded by a wide range of plants. Maria is currently taking online classes at Skyline College and she is majoring in the nursing field.
During her free time, she enjoys creating artworks such as; canvas paintings, drawings, and sketches. She also loves spending time with her family when taking walks and during family trips.
Rodolfo is an Administrative Assistant at Pacific Nurseries mainly supporting the Accounts Receivable Department. He has a diverse professional background having worked in Fashion Retail, Inventory, and Import-Export Operations and is excited to work in the Nursery industry.
Some of Rodolfo’s personal interests include social sciences, traveling, and music.
