Prunus laurocerasus features that your customers will love
Prunus laurocerasus—also known as Cherry Laurel or English Laurel—is native to regions in southwestern Asia and southeastern Europe. This beautiful, distinctive plant features seasonally fragrant and handsomely attractive foliage. Even better, it is a low-maintenance and easy-care plant that makes a fantastic privacy screen or hedge when planted in multiples. As an evergreen shrub or small to medium-sized tree, Prunus laurocerasus grows to 16—25′ tall. The leaves are shiny, leathery, and dark green with a finely serrated margin. Flower buds appear in early spring and open in early summer with creamy-white petals and numerous yellowish stamens with a sweet smell. Flowers are followed by small, cherry-like, red fruit that turns purple-black when ripe. The fruit is attractive to birds. When crushed, Prunus laurocerasus leaves have the scent of almonds. This hardy plant is tolerant of a variety of soil types. But for best performance and growth, install them in moist, organically rich, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade.
