Phyllostachys aurea is a very popular bamboo that is frequently used as a barrier or tall screen in Bay Area landscapes. It features tall, bright green canes that change to yellow-green with age and exposure. It grows in a stiff upright manner with frequent branching at the lower base. Narrow lanceolate leaves provide contrast to the canes in a vivid light-green color. This award-winning bamboo is also virtually disease and pest resistant.
