Ophiopogon japonicus features thin, dark-green, grass-like foliage reaching 6-9″tall and spreads by tuber roots and stolons. It blooms late in summer with pale lilac flowers that are often hidden among the foliage. This hard working, easy-care plant is Ideal for use around the base of trees where most plants will not grow. It performs best in shady locations and can do well in full costal sun. As a native to Asia, this very popular plant is excellent for use in borders, containers, and when mass planted to fill a dreary area. As a lawn alternative, it can also tolerate moderate foot traffic.
