Lotus berthelotii is a distinctive and trailing evergreen plant that adds a burst of color and unique form to Bay Area gardens. It features small, silver-grey leaves that contrast with bright orange-red pea-like 1′ flowers that appear in spring. This award-winning plant prefers full sun and well-draining soil. It’s an excellent choice for cascading over a wall, used in hanging baskets, or as a small-scale ground-cover.

“I love how Lotus berthelotii can spread out across a grade and spill over retaining walls to soften the edges. The bright scarlet flowers just pop against a dark organic backdrop like patinated steel.”
