Bambusa oldhamii is a densely foliated clumping bamboo that is one of the most popular bamboos used in the Bay Area. It features culms that can have a diameter up to 4′ wide and which grow straight and vertically. As a slow grower, it prefers full sun and requires little water. But with regular irrigation it preforms well. As with many bamboo, Bambusa oldhamii makes an excellent screen plant that can obscure a large area.
