Shrub + Tree
Arctostaphylos glauca is a larger shrub or tree featuring striking, deep red twisted branches and bark. The dramatic structural form is contrasted with blue-green, oval leaves. In late winter to early spring, it develops large, lantern-shaped, light pink to white blossoms. Edible berries follow this seasonal bloom and they are very attractive to pollinators including bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies. As this very hardy CA Native plant matures, it can create a dramatic statement in Bay Area landscapes. It’s also an excellent slope stabilizer.
