Fruit
Actinidia deliciosa is a vigorous, woody, twining vine or climbing shrub with large rounded leaves on stems that can reach to 30′. It features handsome, ovate leaves and creamy white flowers that appear in spring. Oblong fruits follow with russet-brown skin densely covered with short, stiff, brown hairs. The flesh is firm until fully ripened producing juicy and delicious fruit that is bright-green inside. One male plant can pollinate up to 8 female plants if centrally located. It performs best in full sun or partial shade with regular irrigation. This is an excellent fruit-producing plant that is perfect for arbors, trellises, fences, and walls in Bay Area landscapes.
