For an unusual, striking, evergreen tree, it’s hard to top the Araucaria araucana. In the landscape, it makes a weirdly skeletal statement because it appears to have no leaves. The short, pointed conifer leaves grow spirally around the branches. It has been popular since the Victorian era due to its distinctive appearance like no other tree in the world. As a slow-grower, it will eventually reach 50-80′ tall and 20-30′ wide in an umbrella form. It performs well in costal locations but make sure it has plenty of room before you install it for your customer.
