Hymenosporum flavum is a slender evergreen tree that grows to 40′ with light gray bark and shiny green leaves that form clusters at the ends of the branches. The fragrant yellow flowers bloom spring into early summer. Plant it in full sun to light shade with deep, infrequent watering. As a native of New South Wales in Australia, it’s appropriate for areas where a narrow upright tree is needed. It can also easily be maintained and pruned to have a tidy form.
