Prunus laurocerasus is an evergreen shrub or small to medium-sized tree that grows16—25′ tall. It features shiny, leathery, and dark green leaves with a finely serrated margin. Flower buds appear in early spring and open in early summer with creamy-white petals and numerous yellowish stamens with a sweet smell. The leaves can also have the scent of almonds when crushed. Prunus laurocerasus performs best in moist, organically rich, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. This is an excellent plant for a privacy screen or hedge.
